The company benefited for a few more years from the affordable prices of Japanese spare parts, but Nissan designed and began producing new models, therefore interest in the production of spare parts for older models was fairly low. Under the circumstances which we have broadly described, it was deemed that investments for the production of new models could not be recouped, while the possibility of producing certified spare parts at competitive prices
for older models required an additional investment of one billion drachmas. But as of 1981, the Greek industry recorded zero growth figures and it remained stagnant until 1997, with its recovery, in any case, appearing to be volatile and uncertain.
In 1992, there were 8 robotic systems in operation at the Volos plant.
The systems for transmitting and exchanging information between the subsystems were designed by the company’s Greek engineers, and a high level of quality was assured.
