In these conditions, and with the Volos plant in full operation, Nic. J. Theocarakis S.A. continued growing, despite the doubling of the taxes in 1979 and the mass import of
used vehicles. In the midst of an increasingly competitive environment the company managed to climb to the top
of the market within the first two years of the operation of TEOCAR S.A. It kept this position for nearly the entire decade, with the exceptions of 1982, 1984-1985 and 1989. In 1986,
Nic. J. Theocarakis S.A. celebrated Nissan’s 25th anniversary in Greece. As of 1984 the Datsun brand is phased out,
and the Nissan name is used as the company extends globally.
