The total length
of Greece’s roads reached 117,422 km. According to the National Road Register published by the National Statistical Authority in 1998, from the total road network, 1,659 km were motorways, 9,299 km Main/ National Roads, 30,864 km Secondary/ Ring Roads, while 75,600 km were "other roads".

the recession had already started.
