car registrations, while the fleet age dropped to 8.9 years and 431,000 vehicles
were scraped. By the end of 1992, shortly before March 1993, when the incentives for scrapping ceased to apply – namely the exemption from the one-off additional fee for 5 calendar years for cars with anti-pollution technology up to 1,600 c.c., and exemption from paying circulation taxes for a certain period. During that time Nic. J. Theocarakis S.A. sold 25,400 Nissan cars in the Greek market, more than ever before.
The future, taking all the above into account, appeared promising for the car market and the Greek automotive sector. But there was still a lot of ground to be covered.
